Coach Steven is from Fort Worth, Texas and has been playing baseball since the age of four. He graduated from Southwest High School in 2009, where he was featured in Vype 2007-2008 Best of Issue High School Sports Magazine in the Greater Ft. Worth-Denton area, for pitching a No Hitter, Shut Out & a Perfect Game.
Steven went on to play collegiate ball in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) at Wayland Baptist University on an Athletic Scholarship for 2 years. After receiving both an Academic & Athletic Scholarship, Steven transferred to play in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) at Huston–Tillotson University in Austin, TX.
While at HTU, Steven led the team in wins, games pitched, innings pitched and ERA. He was ranked 9th in conference in total hits and runs allowed. In addition, he ranked 1st in conference in total walks allowed. Steven was ranked 32nd in the Nation in total walks allowed, beat a NCAA-D1 rivalry twice, pitched a total of 31 games, 4 complete games, 1 Shutout and 112.2 innings pitched. Steven allowed 1 home run and 25 walks out of 499 at bats, with a record of 6 wins 5 losses.
